May 2007: Chilli talks upcoming solo album, O’so Krispie, The Last Days Of Left-Eye, an unreleased TLC song and more!

 On May 24th, 2007 TLC's Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas called in for an interview to discuss her solo album that was planned to be released in 2007. The album was later scrapped for reasons that aren’t 100% known, and never got to see the light of day. 

Odds & Ends:

-Gameproof leaked WITHOUT Chilli's knowledge and WITHOUT her wanting it to.

-Glidin' IS the first single and she was wondering how we heard it already. I told her from radio station websites that I had listed.

-Straight Jack 'Em was produced by someone who had shopped the track around to a lot of different people and Chilli was the one behind that

track leaking. She'd never been in the situation where people shopping the track around and went with it.

-Glidin' is produced by a producer named SANCHEZ.

-Chilli has a track done by Akon (but not written by him) that features T-PAIN, titled “Oooh”

*in the beginning she's talking to Tron and tells him to go get some yogurt*

"I can't be too long, gotta make him some food."

Thoughts on the Last Days of Left Eye:

Missy Elliott called me and told me that she saw it and that it traumatized her. The ending was just too much. I guess I felt pretty good, but it made me sad. Seeing Lisa running around in the jungle, that's my girl! That was the funniest part.

On Travelling to tour:

We never were able to fly in planes overseas very much because of Tionne's sickle-cell. Now that I'm doing it on my own, I'm definitely going overseas. It's going to be great, but on the other hand I'm going to be sad because I'll miss my sister! You know, but I'm very excited about touring.

Anymore upcoming TV appearances?

Nope, not right now. I had fun doing it, but that's done for now. The best time I had was on The Parkers, I was able to act silly with the cast and had fun.

Do you like Monique? Have you seen Charm School?

I love Monique! I saw 1 episode of charm school and whoooooooo.....that show is crazy. It can get addicting I think.

What do you watch on TV?

That's So Raven.

On her new kittie:

I just got a new kittie today! Her name is Kiara

On the rumors:

I never signed with Usher's mom (laughing). That's so crazy. I don't know where people heard that I got beat up by Ray Lewis, we had never even dated like that. It wasn't even like that.

How are Tron & Chase?

Absolutely wonderful.

Did you record a song that sampled Janet's nasty?

Nope, never recorded it. Never had a plan to. That's just another rumor.

How much more do you have to finish on your solo album?

I have 1 more song to finish recording.

How many tracks do you think it will be?

I don't want anymore than 12.

Will we ever hear any unreleased TLC songs?

*pauses to think*..........I mean..........well..........probably not.

Do you think you'll have a big comeback?

*laughs* I mean, I hope so! I'm praying for a big comeback.

Will there ever be another TLC album?

You know, Tionne and I were just talking about that yesterday. I don't know. We've talked about it, lets just say it's a possibility.

On helping kids:

I have big plans for the kids.........i wanna do something real special for the most improved kid that went from a C or a D to a B, and reward them some kind of way. I'm still working on it, I take being a positive role model seriously.

Do you like amusements parks?

LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE them! Lets see, here in Georgia........my favorite ride is The Mind Bender.

What is your favourite song on your solo album?

It's called "Somethin' Bout The Music" and was produced by T-Pain. Me, Akon, and G-White wrote it.

Who would you like to collaborate with on your album?

Hmmmmmmm........I like so many people. But you know, I don't want to do that. I want it to feature ME.

What's your favourite song on the radio right now?

I have to think. I like "Like A Boy" by Ciara.

Do you like Umbrella by Rihanna?

Yeah I like that song, but don't you think it sounds like an Akon song? It sounds like Akon wrote it to me.

Who would you like to tour with?

When I come out, I just have to see who else is comin' out! (laughs) Gwen Stefani would've been cool if I could've gotten on her tour.

Do you have to re-record tracks and keep them up to date since your album has been delayed?

No, I don't have to re-record. Everything has to be just right. I'm not the one that's putting out when my album is coming out. I've always known I was recording and doing other things, it just has so much to do with getting enough of the hits. So no.

Will you be coming to the UK?

I'll definitely be coming to the UK. I can't wait to go overseas, Australia.....

Will you have any ballads on your album?

Yes.

Will you ever set up an official myspace page for yourself?

Eventually. An engineer came up to me the other day and told me that there was a fake Myspace page. Anything out there right now is definitely NOT MINE!

Do you regret picking O'so Krispie since the fans mainly wanted Mirrah?

You know, I've heard the exact opposite! Everyone I've talked to loved O'so. No, we don't regret it.

Are you surprised that TLC has so many gay fans?

*laughs* You know, I don't look at it like that. I look at it as I have fans, and I'm happy to have fans.

What's the typical day for Chilli?

Tron and movies. We just saw Shrek III. I thought it was better than the second one, I didn't like the second one.

Do you have any songs that are like Gameproof?

Well that depends, like the message, or the beat, it depends on what you're talking about. Only one is laid back. A lot of them are uptempo. There are 3 ballads.

Will "It's Alright" ever be released? We love that song!

It's Alright? I don't know that song. That's not TLC. (played her a clip of it). Hmmmmm.......I don't remember recording that song. (turns to Left Eye's part). Wow I really do not know that song. That's crazy.

What was the name of the song that you played in Simple Medicine?

I think that was a TLC track I did that was released overseas (tells her that it was never released). Hmmmm.....I don't remember the name of it, gosh! What was that called.......hmmmmm...... Sorry I just don't remember! (laughs)

What did you think of people working with Polow after you did?

That's the thing, I never really worked with him. I never went into the studio with him. The only song he did was "Straight Jack 'Em."

Is your album called POINT OF VIEW?

Nope, that's just a rumor. I don't know where that came from. I haven't decided on a title yet.

Did you record a song called NO RINGS ON THESE FINGERS?

No. Never even heard of that.

How many tracks have you recorded with T-Boz for your album?

Just 1 - Gameproof. I think someone at the label leaked that.

Were you and T-Boz approached to be on the Left Eye documentary?

No, her family was in charge of that. The only time they approached us was when they had to get clearance to use the samples of the TLC songs. It was supposed to be about Left Eye, we didn't want it to be the TLC movie.

*sounded to me like there may be a TLC movie in the works by the way she worded it*

Is your album set for a fall release still?

That's what I'm being told.

What do you think about the fans saying you need to pick another single instead of Glidin'?

You know........when Waterfalls first came on the radio they wouldn't even play that song. The video made that song. I'm going to be doing a video for Glidin' but I don't know exactly when.
